Two Koi
oil on canvas
30×40 inches
This image was a lot of fun to paint this week. Even though I
was battling a cold, I still slogged through it. I was able to keep my
wits about me to stop working when there was just enough
information there without overworking it.
A constant theme in my approach to painting is not overworking
paintings. Freshness is everything to me!
Children instinctively know when to stop. I’m convinced that’s one
of the reasons their art work is so wonderful and pure.
Just wonderful. Your work is clear as a church bell. There is a Zen Quality to your work.
Thanks, Rob. I’m happy you feel my work is clear without being overly tight. Zen quality is more than I could ever hope to achieve in life or in my paintings!
Brilliant, beautiful, breathtaking!
I just realized that clicking on the image several times enlarges
the picture well beyond the size of my MacBook’s screen — to the
approximate scale of a 20 x 27 inches, compared to the full size
of 30 x 40.. One effectively can “zoom in”.
Thank you, Carl, for all the “B” superlatives. This is one of those times when getting a B is far better than the almighty A!
Interesting idea to blow up the image. Will have to try it 🙂
This new painting, as in all your Koi paintings, has excitement in the movement as well as the vibrant colors. Terrific work as always!
